Synopsis: The Enterprise crew encounters a rogue planet called Dakala drifting through deep space, and Captain Archer leads a landing party to the planet to investigate an alien ship in a region heated by thermal vents on the surface. The landing party meets a group of Eskan hunters who come to Dakala for four days each year to hunt native animals.

Archer learns that some of the animals being hunted are an intelligent race of telepathic shapeshifters that the Eska call Wraiths. One of the Wraiths assumes the form of a human woman and asks Captain Archer for help against the hunters.

  • Factoid: The volcanic vents on Dakala remind T'Pol of the grottoes of Deneva Prime.
