Synopsis: Commander Chakotay is alone on a shuttlecraft to perform the Pakra, a solitary ritual commemorating the anniversary of his father's death, when he is attacked by a young Kazon named Kar who is hoping to earn his adult Kazon name in battle. Chakotay destroys Kar's fighter and beams him aboard, but Kar is dishonored when Chakotay refuses to kill him. They are pursued by a Kazon-Ogla ship and they beam down to a Kazon-Ogla training base on a Class-M moon when the shuttle is destroyed. The Kazon-Ogla and the Voyager crew search the planet for their missing crewmen; when they are found, Kar kills his Maje (the Kazon-Ogla leader) to earn his Kazon-Ogla name, Jal Karden, and orders the Federation crew to leave Kazon-Ogla space.
