Original Air Date: 03-13-96

Synopsis: As self-appointed morale officer, Neelix starts an intra-ship broadcast, "A Briefing With Neelix," to bring news, gossip, and entertainment -- such as Ensign Pablo Baytart's juggling ability -- to the Voyager crew.

Neelix receives a message from his friend Laxeth on a Talaxian convoy, informing him that a member of the Voyager crew wants to leave and work for the Talaxians. Captain Janeway confirms that Lt. Tom Paris, who has been relieved of duty after weeks of disruptive behavior, has asked to leave the ship and join the Talaxian crew. Neelix informs the crew of Paris's departure on his broadcast.

While Michael Jonas is on duty in Engineering, the warp coils overheat and must be rebuilt; Neelix recommends finding the needed materials on a nearby mining colony. The Voyager is contacted by the Talaxian convoy and learns that the Kazon-Nistrim attacked the convoy and captured Lt. Paris. Aboard the Kazon-Nistrim ship, 'Seska' informs Paris that she intends to capture the Voyager for the Kazon-Nistrim and she wants his help. Paris taps into the Kazon-Nistrim communication logs, and learns that 'Seska' has been communicating with Michael Jonas aboard the Voyager, and Paris escapes to warn the Voyager crew about Jonas and the Kazon-Nistrim's plans to attack.

Neelix suspects that someone aboard the Voyager has been secretly sending information to the Kazon-Nistrim, and he launches a journalistic investigation to find out who. He learns that Paris has only been pretending to be disgruntled for the past couple months, in order to deceive whoever was sending the secret transmissions to the Kazon-Nistrim. Neelix finally tracks the transmissions to Michael Jonas, who is trying to disable the Voyager's weapons systems before the Kazon-Nistrim attack. Neelix struggles with Jonas, and Jonas is killed in a plasma blast. Neelix restores power to the weapons and the Voyager is able to recover Lt. Paris and fight off the Kazon-Nistrim.
