Synopsis: The Voyager spent twenty-three years in the the Delta and Beta quadrants before returning to Earth. On the tenth anniversary of her ship's return, Admiral Janeway submits Korath's house for a seat on the Klingon High Council, in exchange for Korath giving her a Klingon time displacement device, with the help of Ensign Miral Paris, the daughter of Tom Paris and B'Elanna Torres. Admiral Janeway uses the device to fly a Federation shuttle into the past, equipped with advanced ablative armor and weapons systems.

In the past timeline, Seven of Nine is starting a romantic relationship with Commander Chakotay, and she asks the Emergency Medical Hologram to remove her cortical node's failsafe device, which almost killed her the last time she felt strong emotions.

When Admiral Janeway arrives from the future, she tells the Voyager officers that they can get back to Earth immediately by using a nearby Borg transwarp hub in Grid 986, which can open apertures to anyplace in the Galaxy. Captain Janeway, however, wants to use the Admiral's futuristic technology to destroy the hub and cripple the Borg, but Admiral Janeway warns her not to make the same mistake she made seven years ago, stranding her crew in the Delta Quadrant when she destroyed the Caretaker's array. In the Admiral's future, the Voyager will lose twenty-two crew members, and Tuvok has a degenerative neurological condition that can only be cured by a fal-tor-voh, a mind meld with a family member; Seven of Nine will die three years from now in the arms of her husband, Chakotay, and he will never be the same.

Captain Janeway insists that if they work together, she and the Admiral can find a way to both destroy the Borg's transwarp hub and get the Voyager back to Earth. Admiral Janeway injects herself with a neurolytic pathogen and allows the 'Borg Queen' to assimilate her, infecting the Collective and allowing the Voyager to destroy the transwarp network while escaping towards the Alpha Quadrant.
